Our VR EMDR therapy study published in Mental Health and Digital Technologies
We’re delighted to announce the publication of our research paper “Usability, Feasibility, and Preliminary Outcomes of VR EMDR Therapy for Specific Phobia: Mixed-Method Study” in Mental Health and Digital Technologies (Emerald Publishing).
About the study
The study examined the usability, feasibility, and preliminary clinical effectiveness of delivering EMDR therapy through virtual reality for people with specific phobias. Using a mixed-method approach, the research combined quantitative outcome measures with qualitative participant feedback.
Results
The findings demonstrated a 94.1% improvement rate among participants, confirming that VR-based EMDR therapy is both feasible and effective for treating specific phobias. Participants reported high levels of satisfaction with the experience and felt safe throughout the process.
Significance
This publication is an important milestone for RestoryVR. It provides the peer-reviewed evidence base that underpins our commitment to clinically validated VR therapy – and paves the way for wider adoption in NHS and private therapy settings.
