What attendees told us about WaveVR at Merged Futures 8
Digital Northants · Friday, 26 June 2026 · University of Northampton
On Friday, 26 June 2026 we took WaveVR to Merged Futures 8 , Digital Northants' annual innovation showcase at the University of Northampton. People came past the stand all day to try it, and a smaller group joined our talk in the afternoon.
About the setting
WaveVR is usually shown in a quiet room: a school, a clinic, somewhere people can settle. A showcase floor is the opposite. Other stands, conversation, footfall, daylight pouring in. We weren't sure how the calming side of the experience would hold up. The numbers from 21 attendee questionnaires came back better than we'd guessed.

What people wrote
Some of the comments people left at the end of the form.
"It was amazing! Love it!!
"Incredible!!
"Very relaxing, felt like meditation.
"Great experience, interesting. I will definitely recommend this to my child's school.
"The experience could support staff and students in my university.
"Space and chance to be somewhere beyond earth. Link to astronauts' experience.
"I enjoyed seeing the variety of environments to choose from.
"Liked the exit slider to get in and out and no controller use. Also the different scenes to choose from.
"I liked the colours and the different options. I also liked how well the information was explained.
"I really enjoyed the bubbles, colours, narration, and hand movement.
What we're taking away
The calmness number is the one that stood out for us. We've seen the piece work in a quiet room before. That three-quarters of people still felt calmer in the middle of a busy showcase floor is genuinely new information for us.
19 out of 21 said they'd do the session again, and the same number would recommend it to someone else. One person specifically wanted to recommend it to their child's school.
A few people also asked about new environments. Two ideas came up unprompted: a forest scene ("mental health is tied to green spaces") and something more pastoral with animals. Both are on our list.
Thanks
